Born on September 12th, 1976, in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh, Tariq Umar Khan is an Indian production designer and art director in Bollywood. He is married to NadiriTariq Khan and is a father of two beautiful daughter Filzah khan (8yrs old) and Hifza khan (4yrs old). Tariq is the son of Late Abdul Sattar Khan, who was working as a bus conductor in Mumbai. Under his elder brother, Haris Umar Khan, a knownArt Director, he got a chance to work in the crown studio with a studio manager. Tariq got inspired by the passion of late Mr. Sameer Chanda, who had the office in the same studio. This incident attracted him to art direction. He worked in the crown studio for twelve years. Later on, in 2005, he worked as a manager for
Wasiq Khan, who himself was a struggling production designer.
Without any formal training in art direction and production designing, he made his place in the Hindi film industry. From being a construction designer, he became a well-known face in art director and production designer in Bollywood. In 2007, he landed working with
Anurag Kashyap in movies like “
No Smoking” and “Meridian Lines.”His work in the movie “Raanjhana” directed by Anand L. Rai as an art director ended up being a defining moment in his life. He was praised and appreciated for his work in the movie, which gave him confidence and recognition. In Anurag Kashyap films, he became famous for his gritty realism. He has additionally worked in mainstream movies in the Art Department. He worked as a production designer in movies.

His short film was additionally welcomed for screening in Amity University Noida for Time Code Film Festival and he gave the lecture on Production Designing.
