96 Sequel Is Still On, Confirms C Prem Kumar

C Prem Kumar continues to hope for the best.

The director recently opened up on the performance of his previous film Meiyazhagan, which starred Karthik Sivakumar aka Karthi and Arvind Swamy in the lead roles. Though it wasn’t highly successful at the box office, the movie gained cult status upon repeated premieres on both the OTT and the television.

However, the director has some good news. Prem Kumar revealed that the sequel of 96 hasn’t been shelved, and he is working on the same. The movie should begin shooting soon once the formalities are completed.

96 was a romantic drama that would’ve ironically been C Prem Kumar’s debut in Hindi cinema instead of Tamil cinema, since he wanted to cast Abhishek Bachchan in the lead role. However, after things didn’t go his way, he cast Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan in the lead role, and the rest as they say is history. 96 continues to be one of the rare gems produced by Tamil cinema that is revered throughout the nation.
