A Lot Of Precision, A Lot Of Focus, And There's The Perfect Shot

They are the people who are strong enough to handle the bulky rig manually and have a sound knowledge of all the cameras and their lenses. They keep themselves updated with all the new technologies related to photography- body mount systems, cranes, dollies, steadicam. They know the details of all the useful accessories like the video senders/receivers, remote focus systems, or any other dedicated equipment. Their job causes a lot of strain on their bodies, and hence they need to physically fit and flexible. They are creative and at the same time, have a great amount of technical knowledge. The Steadicam allows the operators to reach difficult areas and stably capture/shoot the instances by consistent movements.

The steadicam was a revolution in the Photography Department of filmmaking. Managing the entire steadicam system, which is very heavy, and balancing the camera on it, is a tough job and requires a good eye, a creative mind, and a strong body. They generally work with the Director and the Director of Photography and also remain in touch with the first assistant camera for a consistent and constant focus. A lot of coordination is required between these operators and the crew including the actors. They tune their steadicam's themselves and are very accurate with the tasks that they perform. Their job requires an impeccable sense of timing.
