Set Decorator

Going by the name, set decorators decorate the set. They have a creative mind and are well aware of the script and the plot. Abiding by the demands of the screenplay, the set is designed. Extremely organized, set decorators need to handle all aspects of the set- from furniture to curtains and all the props that are required. Besides, they have to follow the budget. It requires a lot of comparisons regarding cost and quality- without compromising on the quality, all the products need to be prepared which might as well raise a situation of price adjustments.

The dressing of the set starts much before the actual shooting, and might as well change daily. Before the shoot, measurements and photographs of each prop that have been hired or bought are taken and recorded. They generally deal with the Director and the Department of Photography primarily. They also work with the costume designers and the lights in order to come up with better and solid color schemes- the lights are important so as to maintain the original look of the set even after the various lights.
