Vijayakumari

Vijayakumari is a famous Malayalam theater and TV actress. She is a familiar face for TV serial audience in recent times. For many years, she was active on professional drama stage and for past 6-7 years, she is seen doing character roles in popular TV soaps.

As a theater artist, she has worked for 15 years in the famous drama troupes in Southern Kerala like, Kerala People’s Arts Club (KPAC) which is the oldest drama troupe in Kerala, N N Pillai’s Sanga Chetha drama troupe, Attingal Deshabhimani troupe, etc. Her husband was also a drama artist in many of these troupes. She acted as heroine in many of the popular dramas in these tropes like Indulekha, Kaapalika, Shaakunthalam, and Vaasavadatha. In the year 2000, she received the Best Supporting Actress award at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy professional drama awards for her role in the drama scripted by acclaimed script writer Rajan Kizhakkuneela.

Vijayakumari was introduced to the world of TV serials by the budding story & script writer Dinesh Plath, who has done the story and script for recent Dileep movie Villaliveeran and Tamil movie Sooraiyadal in 2014. She was cast in the role of heroine Praveena’s mother in the serial Mounam. Since then she was seen doing character roles in many popular Malayalam serials.
