Chitra Shenoy is now a household name among Malayalam viewers. She plays the role of a greedy, cruel mother in law in the daily soap, Sthreedhanam. Sthreedhanam is telecasted by Asianet television channel and is very popular among lady viewers. The character is very strong and is safe in the hands of Chitra. Sethu Lakshmi rules of over her husband, three sons, and daughter in laws. She is greedy for money is ready to go till any extent to earn it. She uses her three children as her weapons to amass huge money in the form of dowry from their brides. Sethu Lakshmi is Chitra's first negative character so far. Chitra also won the best negative character award in 2014.

Chitra is a part of the entertainment industry since past 25 years. This talented and beautiful actress has more than 270 films and 3500 serial episodes to her credit. Chitra started her career in Doordarshan and later moved on to the big screen. She is married to a Gurudas Shenoy, a producer at Doordarshan. Chitra has mostly acted in Kannada films and serials along with a handful of good Malayalam movies. Her Malayalam movies are Rajamanikyam, Ali Bhai, Rock & Roll and Kanchi.
