Born on 25th December 1986 to James and Eliyamma in Thiruvananthapuram, Thomas James became everyone’s beloved Manikuttan with his entry into Malayalam movie and television industry. Many know him as , the character he played in his television debut as the main lead. Before entering into the Television industry, he appeared in children’s film named Varnachirakukal in 1999. He also appeared in many dramas in Doordarshan as a child artist. His break-through was the serial Kayamkulam Kochunni, portraying the legendry thief, who robbed the rich to help the poor; an Indian Robin Hood. This serial was aired on Surya TV.

He quit the show when he got an opportunity in the big screen. He debuted as the main lead in a Vinayan movie Boyfriend in 2005, which was a college love story. He did not limit himself to main lead but took up roles which had scope for performance. He also shared screen space with versatile actors like Mammootty, Mohanlal, and Srinivasan. He appeared in popular movies like 20-20, Bada Dosth, , Minnaminnikootam, Kurukshetram, Hareendran oru Nishkalankan, Elsamma enna Aankutty and Passenger to name a few.

He also played the lead role in Kalabham, Valiyangadi where he played an action hero, in he pays an IT professional who falls in love with his colleague. He remains in the limelight due to his charm in his role portrayal, unique dialogue delivery, and cheerfulness. He has also proved himself as a very good dancer. He was also a part of the Kerala team the Kerala strikers in (CCL) which is headed by Mohanlal. The team won the runner-up title in the 2014 match and semifinalist in 2013 match.
