Punnassery Kanchana was a veteran Indian actress. She was born and brought up in her ancestral house in Pattanakkad. Her acting debut was in the 150 film Prasanna when she was only eighteen. She had a background in drama, which is why it was easier for her to shift into the movie industry. She is mostly famous for her 2016 movie Olapeeppi, for which the Kerala State award was bagged by her for the best character actress.
Her other works are produced by Udaya and Merryland Studios. After a brief stop in her career for thirty-eight years, she reappeared in the movie Olapeeppi, playing actor Biju Menon’s grandmother. She died in May 2019 in the same ancestral house with her son Premlal.
