Ramesh Chennithala

Ramesh Chennithala was born on 25 May 1956 in a Hindu Nair family at Chennithala, Mavelikara in Kerala, India. He works as a politician and the senior leader of the Indian National Congress. His father’s name was V. Ramakrishnan Nair, and his mother was Devakiamma. He got his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). Chennithala got involved in politics during his early school days. In 1970, he became the HS Unit Secretary of Kerala Students Union (KSU).

In 1982, he was elected as All India President of the National Students Union of India. Later, he served as the MLA from Haripad Constituency. He has the record of becoming the youngest minister in Kerala at the age of 28. He has also been the representative of the Indian National Congress in 2004. Later, in 2005, he became the president of the state Congress Party.

He held on to being a member of the Legislative assembly (MLA) for three terms. He got married to Anita. The couple has two sons, named Rohit Chennithala and Ramit Chennithala. His project "Operation Kubera" was started to stop the prevailing corruption of illegal money lenders in the state. His "Clean campus safe campus" project was to ban the usage of drugs on campus.
