K T Jaleel was born on 30 May 1967 in Kerala, India. He serves as a politician and is also a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Thavanur. He completed his primary schooling from GUPS-Painkanur, Valanchery, and GUPS-Velimukku, and studied at Government Higher Secondary School, Kuttippuram, for his secondary education. K.T attended Islahiya College, Chenamangalur, to complete his pre-degree and pursued Pocker Sahib Memorial Orphanage College (PSMO College), Tirurangadi, for his graduation and post-graduation. He has a degree in Masters of Philosophy from the University of Calicut and a Ph.D. from Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram.
After his graduation, he worked as an Associate Professor of History at PSMO College, Tirurangadi. In 2006, K.T. was first time elected as an MLA from the Kuttippuram constituency. He became a member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. In 2011, he defeated V. V. Prakash of the Indian National Congress with 6,854 votes and was elected from the Thavanoor constituency. In 2016, he was again elected from Thavanoor after defeating P. Ifthiquarudheen of the Indian National Congress with a majority of 17,064 votes.
K.T. has also worked as Minister of Higher Education for the Welfare of Minorities, Waqf, and Hajj in the constituency of Left Democratic Front (LDF). He was even a Minister of Local Administration, Government of Kerala. K.T. got married to Fathima Jaleel, and the couple has three children. He had to resign after he was found guilty of supporting “favoritism and nepotism” by the state’s anti-corruption ombudsman.
