K. T. Muhammed

K.T. Muhammed was born on 29th September, 1927 in Manjeri and died at the age of 80 on 25th March, 2008. He is a very popular Screenwriter and Playwright. His wife’s name is Zeenath. In the industry, people know him as KT. He has written almost 40 scripts of the plays and screenplay of about 20 movies. His father was a policeman and did not study much.

K.T completed his schooling and he had to work as a Clerk. He won a Prize in the year 1952 for his short story Kannukal; this story became popular and it also got translated into many languages. He was also a part of the Brother Music Club. He also worked as an editor for a short span of time for Chithrakarthika weekly. He also started his Theatre named Sangamam and this consisted of many professional people. In the year 1971, he got nominated for the Chairman of Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy. In the year 1974, he was also nominated for the Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation.

His plays are splendid and consist of the values that everyone should have. He has also written Manushyan Karagruhathil, this is the story of a man who is in prison. He has also written Ithu Bhoomiyanu which is about the Earth, Njan Pedikkunnu, Kalithokku which is about a toy gun, Srishti which is about the unique creation and much more. He has written many more good plays like Sakshatkaram which is about Fulfillment, and Vellapollam which is about the flood that destroys places, Soothradharan.

He has also won many awards like Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in the year 1986, he won the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam “Sathiya Award” in the year 2005 and in the year 1972 he won the Kerala State Film Awards for Screenwriting. He received the Kerela State Film award for two of his films named Kumarasambhavam which got released in the year 1969 and Achanum Bappayum which got released in the year 1972. K.T. Muhammed has done a lot of good films and people like his work a lot.
