Jency Anthony

Jency Anthony is a playback singer. She was born in Kerala and also brought up in Kerala, India. She has been active in the film industry as a singer since 1966. Jency Anthony is married to her husband, Gregory Thomas who is a businessman. ​​Jency Anthony and Gregory Thomas had two children named, Nithin, a son, and Nubiya, a daughter. 

She belongs to a reputed family of musicians, so music was in her blood, and she started practicing from an early age. She made her singing debut with the song Vaanathu Poonkili in the film Thiripasundari. Jency’s most of the Tamil songs had been scored by Ilayaraja. The directors were impressed with her work. They loved her amazing voice and the perfection in the song sung by her. Jency had been very active in 1970 and 1980. She had been brought into the music industry by Ilayarja. The most popular songs of Jency were Adi Penney from the movie Mullum Malarum and Ennuyir Neethaane from the movie Priya.

Later she left the music industry for few years. But, in 2010, Srikanth Deva gave her a break and then she recorded a song after a long time. Jency regularly used to practice with Ilayaraja. A.R. Rahman has also worked with Ilayaraja as a keyboard player, and Jency Anthony used to sing. Ekanthathe ninte dweepil from 1982 and padmarajan film Novemberinte nashtam, made on Madhavi is one of her popular and memorable Malayalam songs. Though she had a beautiful voice, she didn’t get many opportunities from her mother tongue.

Most of her popular songs belonged to Illayaraja’s compositions. Envanine Poy Vennilla made on Rajnikanth and Sridevi is an amazing and lovely song of the early 1980s. Jency had been a talented singer in the 80’s and was at the peak of her career during 1978-1985, but unfortunately, later she vanished completely from the music industry after her marriage. Jency has an amazing voice. and she has been singing since her childhood.
