Born in Kottayam, Kerala, Pala Thankam is an Indian on-screen character in Malayalam motion pictures. She was one of the eminent supporting performer, dubbing artist and vocalist in Tamil and Malayalam films in the late 60s and 70s. She is a daughter of Lakshmi Kuttamma Amma and Raghavan Nair. She is married to a police officer, Sreedharan Thampi. At 14 years old, she began her profession as a stage artist. She worked in plays of Vishwakara Drama group of her guide N. N. Pillai. She got her first movie role through on-screen character Sathyan, who was her senior.
She assumed the part of Sathyan's mom in film Rebecca, produced and directed by Kunchacko in 1963. Prior, she showed up in a motion picture, Kedavilakk at 12 years old, however, the film never got discharged. She played the role as Sathyan's sister in that movie. Later, her acting vocation began in Udaya Studios. In spite of the fact that she got film offers, there were insufficient to get enough fame for this gifted artist. In this way, she changed on to a theater. She shifted Chennai to wind up plainly a playback vocalist.

Her husband died in a mischance. The couple had three kids name Somasekharan Thampi, Bahuleyan Thampi and her girl ambili is likewise a dubbing actress in Malayalam films. Pala Thankam has been giving her voice to movies since 1971. She has acted in more than 100 motion pictures. S
