Swathy Narayan is a versatile South Indian actress and dancer. She works in the Malayalam and Tamil film industry. Swathy has showcased her talent in some Kannada movies like Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam, Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, and IIai. She took birth in Perumbavoor, Kochi where she grew up.

Besides being an actor, Swathy is a professional Kuchipudi dancer and an Ayurvedic doctor. Swathy never thought of being offered a role in a feature film, but somehow she made her mark on the silver screen. Presently she is settled in Thrissur, Kerala. While growing up in her hometown, she learned to dance.

In 1999, Swathy appeared in a film as a child artist for the first time. The drama directed by Vinayan featured Swathy as Kaveri’s character in the childhood days. In pre-school, Swathy became a part of ad-shoots as well. She wanted to pursue arts and become a professional dancer, so she continued her dance training in Kuchipudi. She also trained under Chintha Ravi Balakrishna at Vijayawada and earned a diploma in Kuchipudi. On her academic side, Swathy studied Ayurveda in Thrissur and got qualified as a doctor.

In an interview, Swathy talked about her love for Kuchipudi and said that someday she would get a doctorate in the dance form. Kuchipudi was Swathy’s primary focus, but in 2015, she was approached by the director Ranjit Sankar through a family friend. Ranjit Sarkar selected her based on some photographs of hers for the role of Sheela in the movie Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam. Swathy portrayed a young girl from Mumbai who is compelled by her father to get married.

The film also had Jayasurya and Sshivada in lead roles. Su Su Sudhi Vathmeekam got completed after Swathy did her internship at an Ayurveda hospital. In 2017, Swathy appeared in a Tamil feature film name IIai. Directed by Bineesh Raj, the film promoted the right to education for girls in the villages.

Swathy played IIai. The film got lauded for its theme of the right to education and did average business at the box-office. Though the multi-talented actress has done only two films, she had made her place in the hearts of the audience. Currently settled in Thrissur, Kerala, Swathy has balanced her medicine, dance, and acting careers. She wishes to do more films in the future.
