Padmapriya Janakiraman

Padma is an Indian actress and model. She was born on 28 February 1980 in Delhi and brought up in Punjab by her Tamil parents. She completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Trimulgherry, Secunderabad (Andhra Pradesh) and graduated from Loyola Academy, Alwal. She has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and also a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies, Harihar.

She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Law from National Law School of India University, along with possessing a Masters in Public Administration from New York University. She ventured into modeling hoping it would give way to a career in the film industry. She worked for a music album during her class 12th and won the Miss Andhra Pradesh title in 2001. However, it was in 2004 when she debuted with a Telugu film titled ‘Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi’. In the same year, she worked in her first Malayalam film, ‘Kaazhcha’.

She was awarded the Asianet Award in the category of Best Female New Face of the Year. In 2012, her first Bengali film was released titled ‘Aparajita Tumi’. For her lingual diversity as an actress, she has been awarded the National Award for working in films of different languages. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, having performed publicly over two hundred times. Her performance has been telecasted by Doordarshan multiple times. She tied the knot with her longtime lover, Jasmine, whom she met while she was studying her Master’s degree.
