One of the most versatile lyricists of the Malayalam film industry is Gireesh Ambra. Hailing from Calicut, Kerela Gireesh has had a very accomplished history in the field of music. Along with being a Lyricist, he is also a folklorist. He completed his high school degree from Chakkalakkal Higher Secondary School in Calicut. Then he moved to Kozhikode, Kerala to pursue his graduation from Devagiri College, Kozhikode. He has also taken part in various music competitions and has won as well. He was awarded the Kerala Folklore Academy Award in 2012 for his contribution to folklore.
In 2018, Gireesh worked as a lyricist for the movie Kattu Vithachavar. This movie is a political thriller based in the late 1970s Kerela. For the movie, Gireesh wrote a song named Poridangalil and the musician was Pramod Cheruvath. He is currently also associated with the Kerala State Literacy Mission Authority. Gireesh is also the director of the Pattukoottam Association, Kozhikode. This association is also called Protest Voiced Through Music. It aims to bring awareness about various social causes. They do so by representing music in indigenous forms. Gireesh is also the working director of many musical associations. He is also popular for taking part in various musical competitions as a judge.
