K Gopinathan is a famous philosophy professor, filmmaker, and critic in Kerala. He is associated with the Malayalam film industry. K. Gopinathan started his career as a writer in the 1980s as a JNU student. He was actively involved in student politics, film, and theater movements during college. To pursue his interests, Gopinathan took several courses at the School of Drama, Film, and Television Institute of India. He has directed three documentaries, Mundassery: Kalaghattathinte Muzhakkam (1997), Swaathanthrya Sangeethika (1999), and Maythil (2010). Gopinathan also directed two feature films, Ithramatram (2012) and Samarppanam (2017).
