K. S. Sethumadhavan is a famous screenwriter and film director in India dedicating his works to Malayalam movies. Madhavan is famous for his movies in Tamil, Oriya, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi also. Some of the landmark films directed by him are Yakshi, Odeyil Ninnu, Achanum Bappayum, Anubhavangai Palichakal, etc. He won 9 Kerala State Film Awards and 10 National Film Awards. He was born in the city of Palakkad in the state of Kerala. His mother's name was Lakshmi and father's name was Subrahmanyam. Initially, he worked as an assistant director.

He later worked with many directors like A. S. A. Swamy, L. V. Prasad, and Nandakarni. The first movie for which he worked as a film director was the Singhalese film named "Veera Vijaya" in the year 1960. "Jnanasundari" was his first Malayalam movie. He later directed more than sixty movies. Some of the famous films are "Daaham", "Odayil Ninnu", "Ara Nazhika Neram", "Chattakkari", " Marupakkam", etc. He won the Nargis Dutt Award on National Integration for being the best-featured film in the year 1973 for the film "Achanum Bappayum."

In the year 1991, he won the award named National Film Award for the drama feature film named "Marupakkam", the first movie in Tamil to win the award. The Telugu movie named "Stri" directed by him won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in the year 1996 in Telugu. He was awarded with the Kerala State Film Award four times as the best director. The four films are Karakanakkadal, Ara Nazhika Neram, Oppol, and Theeratha Veedu. He became the chairman of the jury in the year 1982 for the Kerala State Film Awards.

He was given the J. C. Daniel Award in the respect of his contributions and achievements to the Malayalam Cinema in the year 2009. Kerala Film Critics Association honored him in the year 2011 with the Chalachitra Ratnam Award. In the year 1962, he directed a film named "Kannum Karalum" starring Ambika Sukumaran, Sathyan, Kamal Haasan, etc. He directed two films named "Susheela" and "Nithya Kanyaka" in the year 1963. In the year 1964, he directed three films named "Omanakuttan," "Manavatty", and " Anna."

In the year 1965, he directed two films named "Odeyil Ninnu," "Daaham." In the year 1996, he was the director of three films named "Sthanarthi Saramma", " Rowdy", " Archana." He directed many more films till the year 1994. In the year 1994, he directed a film named " Nammavar" starring Gouthami and Kamal Haasan.

Joshiy Malayalam Actor


Joshiy is an Indian film director known for his work in the Malayalam Industry.  He has directed more than 80 movies. Joshiy was married to Sindhu. They had a daughter Aishwarya who died in a car accident in 2011 in July in Chennai. The couple has a son named Abhilash, who was married to Varsha. Joshiy was born in Thiruvananthapuram district of Varkala. He started to get related with cinema through the cinema theatre that was owned by their family. In 1969, he completed his first degree and then he went to Chennai for trying his career in cinema. He began his career while working as an assistant for ‘M. Krishnan’. He made his directorial debut with the film “Tiger Salim” that got released in 1978. After that he directed the movie “Moorkhan” and later “Raktham”. He went on to direct many movies like-“Kaahalam” released on 31st July in 1981, then “Sharam”, “Karthavyam” released in 1990 and then “Dheera” and “Aarambham” etc. In 1983, “Aa Raathri” was produced and for that ‘Mammoothy’ and he worked together, from then till next two decades. After that, a series of movies released which includes - Kodathi, and Minimol Veticanil, a release of 1984. On the behalf of script of ‘Dennis Joseph’, he directed “Nirakkoottu”. Joshiy joined hands with Mammoothy for the movie “New Delhi” in 1987. In the year 1988, Joshiy directed three films, whose script was written by Dennis Joseph and Mammootty was the lead actor. In 1989, Joshiy worked with ‘Mohanlal’ for the movie “Naduvazhikal”. In the same year, he opted for one another movie “Nair Saab”, which is a military related film. The shooting of this film was done in Kashmir in which “Mammootty” was the lead role. His third film in this year was “Mahayanam” and it won award for the best actor. In the year 1990, he directed three movies-Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu, which was written by ‘Padmarajan’, Kuttettan, a production by ‘K.V. Abraham’ and No. 20 Madras Mail produced by Tharangini films. Then he did his next movie in 1992 named “Kauravar” written by 'A K Lohithadas'. Then in 1992 he tried his luck in Tamil cinemas and in 1993, he did the movie Airport. Then in 1994, he did two movies “Dhruvam”, a production by ‘M. Mani’ and Sainyam which was edited by ‘K. Sankunny’. In 1994, he opted for debut in Telugu cinema with the movie “Angarakshugudu”, in which ‘Rajasekhar’ played the lead role. Then in 1999, Joshi did two movies- Lelam, a production of seven arts Films and Pathram, a production by ‘K. Gangaduth’ along with journalist “Renji”. In 2001, he did two movies Praja which was written by ‘Renji’ and Dubai a production by ‘Preethi’. Both the movies were big flops. After this in 2001, he took break from movies and in 2004 he came along with directing the movie Runway, starred by ‘Dileep’ after movie Mampazhakkalam”. Then in 2005 he worked for the movie “Naran” and in 2006 he did movie “Lion”. Some of his other movies include Pothan Vava in 2006, a production by ‘Lal’, July 4 in 2007, which was written by ‘Benny P Nayarambalam’. In 2007, he did movies- Nasrani and Janmam. He directed Twenty: 20 and Robinhood in 2008 and 2009 respectively. His release of 2011 includes Christian Brothers, a production by ‘A.V. Anoop’. “Run Baby Run” was his  directed movie in 2012, then Lokpal during 2013 and Salaam Kashmier in 2014.


Abrid Shine

Abrid Shine is a well known Indian Fashion Photographer and director, from Kerela. Photography has always been his interest, even when he was doing Bachelor of Commerce, at Thalayolaparambu a place in Kerala. He is a huge fan of cricket and an admirer of the legendry cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He has keen interest in cricket and always keeps himself updated with anything happening related to cricket. He was doing wedding photography in Poothotta and was completing college at the same time. Once he graduated, he became more involved in Photography, and made himself professionally busy. He started working in a publication at Kochi and planned that it would be his permanent income driver. While he was working for a women’s publication, he assisted Lal Jose for an ensemble film, Kerela Cafe. Abrid expressed his deep intentions to make a film, Lal Jose differentiated him the advantages and risks he was thinking about. He mentioned his friend ‘Martin’ is his inspiration and how slowly he turned into a filmmaker, who gave ABCD. Abrid also has a son named Bhagath Abrid. He gave up his job in 2011 and created himself a space from all the distractions. He penned the script ‘1983’ from his known version for the love of cricket. The story was so much related to his life, and he could only match it with his language of cameras to express it better. When the writing part was over, it came to life with the acting of Nivin Pauly. The story is about a boy, who understands the basic of cricket when he was studying in fourth grade, and his dream progresses with the battles of life increasing by the years. The young boy’s role was played by his son. The director says with a touch of emotion that, every achiever in the sports had someone who had given up something for that person to come to that phase. He won ‘Best Debut Director’ in ‘Kerala State Awards’ and ‘SIIMA Awards’ for the movie. This year his second movie, ‘Action Hero Biju’ essayed by Nivin Pauly was released and had a good response. The flick was pushed into box office collection from the second week after it went public. After this film, he is working on scripting a college story and cast which is yet to be finalized.
