Born on 23 September 1975, Vidhu Vincent was born in Kollam, Kerala. She is a Malayalam film director, writer journalist, and activist. Starting her career as a journalist with AsiaNet, she branched into several other professions. Her interest in documentaries and filmmaking led her to work with the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology. She took a break in her professional life to pursue 2 Masters’s degrees – Masters of Social Work and Master of Arts (Philosophy).
VIncent reignited her career with a telefilm Nadakaanthyam. The film went on to win Best Director, Screenplay, and Best Short Film awards in the Kerala State Television Awards. Furthering her prospects in direction, she made a documentary named Vrithiyedu Jathi for Media One. Manual scavengers were the subject of the documentary. Her debut film Manhole is an adaptation of the documentary.
The movie gained an appreciation and won several awards. The movie won Kerala State Film Award for Best Director. It became the first movie directed by a female from Kerala to enter the International category in the International Film Festival of Kerala. Manhole won the FIPRESCI award for Best Malayalam Film and Silver Crow Pheasant Award for Best Debutant Director at the festival.

This is her travelogue of Germany and outlines Nazism. She plays the role of an activist too. In 2010, she became the first President of Penkootu, an organization to help women working in the unorganized sectors. Vincent played an important part in organizing the Women in Cinema Collective in 2017.
