Rakshith Shetty is once again in the news, but for a different reason.
This time, he is furious with the OTT platforms. But why? His much awaited web series, ‘Ekam’, is being rejected by every single platform for no fault of his. This is the case when Rakshith is one of the most consistent performers at the box office, with films like ‘Garud Gamana Vrishabh Vahana’, ‘777 Charlie’, ‘Sapta Sagaraadche Ello’ series to his credit.
Unfortunately, Rakshith is not the only one to suffer from this discrimination. Since the past few months, Kannada actors are extremely vocal about the way Kannada films are being snubbed by major OTT platforms, and why even the biggest films are struggling to find a decent OTT release.
Some might say it is because of the current plight of Sandalwood. But if this was the case, why was Rakshith’s ‘Sapta Sagaraadche Ello’ unceremoniously dropped from Amazon Prime, despite the movie being equally popular on the platform, as it was in the cinema hall.
Even Rishab Shetty, who is currently working on Kantara’s prequel, had expressed his displeasure over the same. He said that just because one film backfired, nobody has the right to say that there is no market for films like that.
