Master Manjunath is an actor from India well known for his role as ‘ Swami Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ in the evergreen people’s favourite television series, ‘ Malgudi Days Click to look into! >> Read More... ’. He was born as Manjunath Nayaker on December 23rd in the year 1976 in the city of Bangalore in Karnataka. Manjunath completed his higher secondary education and headed to college and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in English (BA. English) from Mysore University. He then majored in Sociology (MA. Sociology) from Bangalore University. Manjunath was interested in filmmaking considering the amount of exposure he had in his childhood as Swami. He underwent a certificate course in cinematography and took a diploma. Manjunath started his acting career when he was just three years old. By the time he was 11, Manjunath had appeared in over 32 films as a child star. His career in the acting industry took off after he played the role of the chirpy little lad ‘Swami’ in the television series adapting R. K. Narayan’s ‘Malgudi Days’.
When he was offered the role, Manjunath was asked to do the role in Hindi and English, both languages to which he was an alien. Narasimhan, the producer both were of great help and that they guided him in every step. After the success of the character ‘Swami’ from the television series, Manjunath was complimented by R. K. Narayan himself that he had played the role with such perfection that he was exactly like the Swami Mr. Narayan had imagined.
Later his character inspired the inception of the film, ‘Swami and Friends’ in which he was cast again as Swami. He had received a row of awards including a state award, a national award and six international awards. He later appeared in over 67 films in various languages like Hindi and Kannada including the 1990 Amitabh Bachchan starrer, ‘ Agneepath Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ in which he played Vijay Deenanath Chauhan’s younger self. Manjunath retired from his acting career when he was almost 20 so as to pursue a better education. He joined BMICP where he worked as a PR Consultant. Currently, he lives in Bangalore with his wife, Swarnarekha and their son and runs his consultancy firm.
