Ashok Kannada

Ashok is a famous Indian actor in Karnataka, contributing his best to the Kannada cinema industry. He is well known for his dramatic roles. He appeared in the film named Ranganayaki. He also participates in many movements as an activist, including Raitha Sangha protests and Gokak movement. His father's name is V. Lakshmi Narasimhaiah, who is a police inspector. His mother's name is Puttamma. He was born in Anekal, a town and taluk of Banglore Urban district. He aimed to become a movie star from his very childhood. Immediately after completing his degree, he immediately sent an application to the National School of Drama, Film and Television Institute of Pune, and the Madras Film Institute. He was selected at the Madras Film Institute for admission. He was the topper of the course at that institute. His first film in Kannada was Hennu Samsarada Kannu. He played opposite Sridevi. He acted in other famous films like Sanadi Appanna, Archana, Chellida Rakta, Vijayavani, Ranganayaki, Taayiya Madilalli, Krantiyogi, Basavanna, and Raja Maharaja. He is known to set up an SSI (small-scale industry). He gets most of his income from this industry. In 1986, he was elected as the founder president of the Karnataka Film Artists, Workers and Technicians Union.

He acted in his first film named Hennu Samsarada Kannu in the year 1975. In 1977, he acted in the Indian Kannada film named Sanaadi Appanna, which Vijay directed. This film is based on the same-named novel written by Krishnamoorthy Puranik. In the same year, he acted in three other films.

They are Bayalu Daari, a Kannada film under the direction and production of Dorai - Bhagwan duo, Bhagyavantharu, a Kannada family melodrama film, which H.R. Bhargava directed, and Pavana Ganga, a Kannada film directed by Y. R. Swamy and produced by C. Jayaram. In 1981, he acted in the film named Ranganayaki, which Puttanna Kanagal directed, and starred Ambarish, Ramakrishna, Aarathi, and Rajan and along with Ashok. This film is based on Ashwattha's novel named Ranganayaki. In 1983, he acted in the film named Kranthiyogi Basavanna, which was directed by K. S. L. Swamy, Starring Aarathi, Manjula, and Srinivasa Murthy along with Ashok. In 1985, he acted in the film Muliga Mallige, directed by K. Balachander and produced by Kavithalaya Productions. In 1995, he appeared in Thumbida Mane under the direction of S. Umesh. In 2014, he contributed to the film named Kempe Gowda, directed by Sudeep and produced by Shankare Gowda. In the year 2015, he acted in films named Mr. Airavata and Rana Vikrama. In 2016, he acted in the film named Parapancha, a psychological comedy film directed and written by Krish Joshi and produced by Yogaraj Movies.

In 2015, he was also seen in Endendigu with Ajay Rao and Radhika Pandit, scripted by Jayatheertha and directed by Imran Sardhariya. He was also seen in Sapnon Ki Rani, directed by AR Babu. In 2016, he shared the screen space with “Sudeep” and Upendra Rao in Mukunda Murari, directed by Nanda Kishore. In 2017, Ashok shared the screen space with Puneeth Rajkumar, Priya Anand, and Sarathkumar in “Raajakumara.” He also shared the screen space with “Gurunandan,” Avantika Shetty, and Ashika Ranganath in Raju Kannada Medium in 2018.

In 2019, Ashok played in the film, Adyaksha in America, a romantic-comedy film directed by Yoganandh Muddanna. He shared the screen space with “Sharan,” Ragini Dwivedi, and Sadhu Kokila. Besides being an actor, he had been a social activist. He was much active in the farmer’s movement. Ashok is not an accidental actor, and his passion for acting started when he was 7. After Ashok completed his graduation, his father, a sub-inspector of Police, didn’t force him to follow in his footsteps; instead, he sent him to Madras Film Institute after seeing his interest in acting. “Rajinikanth,” Hema Chaudhary, Amar Mullah, Raghunandan and Ravindranath were his batch mates in Madras Film Institute. “Chiranjeevi” was in their next batch.
