Yogi Devagange

Yogi Devagange is a writer and director. Hailing from a small village in Karnataka, he is a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry. With years of experience in the film industry as a writer, he pursued his career as an associate director in the film Mungaru Male (2006), working with Yogiraj Bhatt. He also worked with other directors like Duniya Suri, and Om Sai Prakash. Some of his projects as assistant directors are Mungaru Male, Thenali Rama, Bhoopathi, Honeymoon Express, Inthi Ninna Preethiya, and Rajkumari. He released his first directorial film 2nd Half in 2018, which gained him recognition as a director in the film industry. Yogi Devgange’s second project, Gandhi Mattu Notu, won four awards at the Bangalore International Film Children Festival. The story of this movie reflects Gandhiji’s struggle, philosophy and value of education. Sukri, a school-going girl in a remote village gets inspired by the philosophies of Gandhiji and begins to apply his principles in action such as speaking the truth, stopping alcohol consumption, respecting women, practicing non-violence, etc., only to find out that no one else follows any of it. Even the currency that has Gandhi’s image are used for illegal activities. So, she took up the campaign to make Gandhi’s principles continue to thrive, which drew national attention.
