Matt Reeves

Matthew George Reeves is an American director, writer, and a producer. Born to be a filmmaker, he started working at the age of eight with his old wind-up camera. When he was thirteen, he became friends with the now famous American film director, producer, screenwriter, and composer JJ Abrams during a Z Channel show which was airing both of their short films.

Reeves is an alumnus of the University of Southern California. There he produced a student film called Mr. Petrified Forest, which garnered huge acclaims. In 1996 he worked with Jason Katims on a show called Relativity. The show was canceled after seventeen episodes. In 1995 he directed few episode for Homicide: Life on the Street (crime drama). Before Matt came into direction, he started screenwriting and worked on films such as The Pallbearer (1996) and Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995).

In 1998, he switched his focus on television and came up with a television show along with his good friend JJ Abrams called Felicity (the show lasted till 2002). In 2000, he started working on a television series called Gideon's Crossing, which failed miserably. Reeves also wrote the movie The Yards Along with James Gray. Matts's first movie Cloverfield (2008) - a monster movie was produced by his friend JJ Abrams.

The movie got a positive response and helped Matt make a name for himself. As the time went on, he directed epic movies such as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and all its parts including the upcoming part called The War of the Planet of the Apes. In 2012 it was announced by him that he would direct a movie based on the hit TV series The Twilight Zone. In January 2017, it was announced that Matt Reeves would direct and co-produce the Batman film in the DC Extended Universe. Reeves is married to a former animator, Melinda Wang and they have a son together.
