Diahann Carroll is an actress cum singer from America. She has contributed to the theater, television and film industry. The period in the field of acting has been about six decades. She has worked in many films and television series. She was born in New York. Her parents were John Johnson and Mabel. Her parents moved to Harlem; when she was small. She completed her schooling at Music & Art High School. She was very fond of her parents and was always interested in the field of dancing, singing, acting and modeling. She finished her graduation from New York University in sociology. At the age of 15, she did modeling for Ebony magazine. Cathryn Lee Damon was an actress of American origin who was famous for her roles on various television comedy-drama shows of the 1970s and 1980s. She was born on 11th September in Washington, United States. Though she was born in Seattle, Washington, she grew up in Tacoma. She completed her graduation from the Stadium High School (Public High School in Washington). At the age of 16, she left Tacoma and went away to New York City so as to pursue ballet which is a type of Italian dance performance. Cathryn has been graceful since always, and she loved dancing. She started her career in the year 1957 and appeared in various Broadway Productions. She starred in Shinbone Alley, which was a musical drama. She did well there. She came in a succession of shows like Flora, Foxy, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers, etc. She played important roles in the serials like Sweet Bird of Youth and The Cherry Orchard. During 1967-1968, Cathryn was selected to play the lead role of Mame and Vera for the show Angela Lansbury-led tour of Mame. She had gained fame through these sitcoms. To add to her success then came the show "Soap" in the year 1977. She became the favorite of the viewers through the amazing role of a middle-class girl named Mary Campbell. The show was shown in the daytime when everyone could take out time to witness it. The show continued till the year 1981, and till then Cathryn had secured a place in the hearts of the audience. Just after this show, she did the character of Cassie Parker in the show Webster from the year 1984 to the year 1986. Both, the audience and the critics appreciated her. In 1986, she suffered from ovarian cancer but even after knowing her condition, this brave girl did not quit her passion. She continued acting and did guest roles in sitcoms. Her last role was in the picture, “She's Having a Baby” in which she played the mother of ‘Elizabeth McGovern’. Cathryn's mother Mary Springer and her sister cared a lot about her and helped her to survive. On May 4, 1987, Cathryn died and was interred at Acacia Memorial Park.
