Rochelle Okoye

Rochelle Okoye was born on 26th May 1985 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She started as a gymnast at the early age of 2. During her teens, she was a member of Great Britain's Gymnastic Team and was competing internationally. In 1996, Rochelle became the Great Britain National Gymnastics Champion and retained her title for 3 years. She was awarded the Top Sportsperson In England under the age of 13 for two years. BBC made a documentary about her life and achievements when she was just 14 years old. It is titled Going for Gold. The documentary focused on her work to obtain a Gold medal in the upcoming Olympics. She had started training for the 2000 Olympics. She was left disappointed when the competing age became a minimum of 16 years, as she was only 15 years old at that time. After this announcement, she decided to resign from gymnastics. She went to the University of Northern British Columbia in 2006. There she got her B.Sc. degree in Psychology.

She went on to work with children and youth with behavioral issues, Mental illnesses, and developmental disabilities for several years. After this, she ventured into the world of martial arts. She trained and competed in the disciplines of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. She became the first female professional to have a boxing bout in British Columbia. She further went on to obtain a diploma in personal training. This helped her in becoming the co-owner of a professional MMA gym in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It is known as Tristar Vancouver Martial Arts and is attended by big professionals. Many UFC athletes, National champions, and MMA professionals attend the gym. The gym is also the training center for the Canadian National MMA team.

She founded a community called Third Eye Vibes to motivate people and help them overcome their problems. It is a big community, and they have a page on Instagram as well. She has been invited two times on TED talks to share her journey through various ups and downs and finally emerging victorious. She is also a best-selling author on Amazon for her book With Every Damn Brick. She has also worked as a professional stunts woman.
