Terius Youngdell Nash popularly known by his stage name The-Dream is an American songwriter, singer and record producer. Terius was born on September 20, 1977, in Yanceyville, North Carolina, United States. When Terius turned two him, and his mother moved to Atlanta. Youngdell learned how to play the trumpet while in elementary school, after which he learned how to play the drum and guitar. While Nash was fifteen, in 1992 his mother passed on.
This event inspired him to write songs, Terius says his mother is the reason he has a soft spot for women and written women empowerment songs such as Umbrella performed by Rihanna. In 2001 Terius met R&B producer, Laney Stewart, who helped him get a record deal after he wrote 'Everything' for B2K's album Pandemonium!.
The record deal was under his artistic name, The-Dream, Terius began writing lyrics for famous artists. He co-wrote Me Against the Music with Britney Spears Britney Jean Spears or Britney Spears is an Americ >> Read More... ; He wrote Umbrella which was performed by Rihanna, and many more songs. In 2007 The-Dream signed a record deal with Def Jam Recordings and released his first studio album titled Love Hate, he co-produced the album as well, and it marked the beginning of his record producing and singing career.
Throughout his career, The-Dream has won two BET Awards( Black Entertainment Television) the first one was the Best New Comer in 2008 and the second was the Viewers Choice Award in 2009. Aside from the BET Awards, The-Dream has also won four Grammy Awards for songwriting.
