Tommy Gormley is a Scottish filmmaker and hails from Glasgow, Scotland. He was born on May 3, 1968. He is a descendant of the popular Scottish filmmaker Charles Gormley. He has studies from St. Joseph’s Primary school and St. Columbia of Lona. He used to be very passionate about his career. His father never compelled him to do only a particular thing. Right from his childhood, he used to be very self-supporting. And when he was in his teens, he itself established his career objective.
He thought of becoming a perfect director and filmmaker, just like his father. And for that, he toiled a lot in life and this eventually made him wonderful director and film producer. He’s also one of the directors and producers who did not stick to just one particular genre. Instead, he has appreciated any fascinating stories and he will be first to produce such kind of flicks and will always try to encourage new talent. Audience satisfaction is the most important thing for her. He worked as an assistant and as a director for many talkies.
His first film, “Wildflowers”, was as an assistant director, which was released in the year 1982. It was a supernatural drama which starred celebrities like Anna Torn, John, Tasha, Blair, Sith and others. It has completed about five seasons and telecasted around 100 episodes. Besides directing he has also produced a few movies like “Star Track into Darkness”, “Super-8”, etc. Apart from working with other directors and producers, he has also had the privilege of working with his father on the movie “Down among the Big Boys.” He used to be very particular about the location for the movie.
Everyone used to call him a location specialist on sets. When he was shooting for “The Four Feathers” with Shekar in Morocco, he has faced the worst situation in his career. He met with a terrible accident on sets. After a few days of rest, he bounced back again to shoot. The movie “Ask the Dust,” directed by Robert Towne, stood as one of his favourite films and at the same time that was the play that gave him a good break in his race. Though he lives in U.S because of his movies, his heart is still in Scotland. He wants to improve the film industry in Scotland too.
That’s the reason why he, along with his wife Sarah, has started a production company to encourage the new talent. He always says one thing that the assistant directors always play a cardinal role. They sweat to the core to win the respect of the crew. He always shows his gratitude and respect to the field he works in.
