Steven Levitan born 6th April 1962, is a well-known American television producer, director, and screenwriter. Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Levitan has left an incredible mark on the industry with the creations of popular television series such as “Just Shoot Me,” “Stark Raving Mad,” “Stacked,” “Back to You,” “Modern Family,” and “Reboot.” Steven did his schooling at Glenbrook South High School and his higher studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At Wisconsin, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in journalism and graduated with his degree in 1984. While at University he became a member of the esteemed Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Levitan began his journey with on-air news reporting and as a morning anchor-man at WKOW-T.V. in Madison, Wisconsin. He also worked as a copywriter at Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago.
Steven made his move to Hollywood in 1989. Steven has won numerous awards and recognitions for his contributions to television. He won an Emmy Award for being the executive producer of the outstanding comedy series “Frasier.” Steven also received Emmy Nominations for his exceptional writing on “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Just Shoot Me!” His talent was further recognized when he got the Humanitas Prize for the “Frasier” episode titled “Breaking the Ice.” Steven’s other accomplishments include a CableACE Award, a Writers Guild nomination, a Producers Guild Award, a Television Critics Association Award, and a People’s Choice Award, among others.
His own company, Steven Levitan Productions has produced many successful series. “Just Shoot Me!”, “Stark Raving Mad,” “Greg the Bunny,” “Oliver Beene,” and “Stacked” are a few examples. Steven himself has received Emmy nominations for his work on “Modern Family” as an Outstanding Director.
