Mark L Lester

Mark L Lester is a very renowned American film director, screenwriter and producer. He has created many high-action films including some of his biggest blockbusters. He was born on 26 November,1946. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Lester was brought up in San Fernando Valley, in the suburbs of Los Angeles. As a college student he was more interested in politics rather than film making.

His film making career started after he became the chairman of California Youth Senator Eugene McCarthy. He turned to film making after attaining a graduation degree in political science from California State University in Northridge. After graduation, Lester moved to San Francisco with the idea of making films which had various political and social statements in them.

Lester started his career with a documentary, Twilight of the Mayas for which he spent nearly six months in Mexico,His movie was awarded as the top documentary in the Venice film Festival. Lester gave a tough competition to all the American directors when he produced and directed Tricia’s Wedding, which was actually a parody of Nixon White House starring the cabaret troupe , the Cockettes.

Lester’s another big success was the Steel Arena which was produced in 1973 In 1974, Lester produced an action-thriller film ,Truck Stop Women. Then again in 1975, he was back to the political genre by producing White House Madness which gave a satirical touch to the Washington politics at the time of Watergate. Then he produced Bobbie Jo and Stunts in the following years, the movies actually gained a lot of appreciation from the audience. After producing 17 blockbuster films, Lester founded and became President of the American World Pictures in 1993. He then started producing and distributing the films in the genres he used to popularize.

Throwing light on Lester’s personal life, he is married to Dana Dubovsky and has two children, Jason and Justin. Janessa is his daughter from his prior relationship.
