Born on 29th of June, 1963 in Washington D.C, United States is an American film producer who has produced many feature films, including some which are critically acclaimed. He is currently of the age 52 is still very much in the business with new ventures coming up. The woman behind the movies which gave film production a glamorous curve, but Cathy Konrad is more than a film producer.
She didn’t start off her career as a film producer. Like every person has a great story, so does Cathy Konrad. In her early days, she used to assist in production. She has worked as a production assistant in "Suspect" (1987), as an assistant production coordinator in "Zelly and me" (also known as Phoebe), apart from that she has assisted some personalities like
, 'Arachnophobia', Buena Vista, Mr. Kidney, etc. As it is said, the greatest education in the world is to see masters at work. After her assisting stint, Cathy Konrad went on to Co-produce the show "Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead" and "Kids" in 1995.
The string of movies that came under Cathy Konrad’s head of production after that was not only noticeable, but some also managed to pull recognition and awards. She produced "Citizen Ruth" and "Scream" in 1996, "Cop Land" and "Scream 2" in 1997, "Wide Awake" in 1998, "Bad Moon Rising" and "Teaching Mrs Tingle" in 1999, "Girl, Interrupted" and "Scream 3" in 2000, "Kate & Leopold" in 2001, "The Sweetest Thing" in 2002, "Walk the line" in 2005 and "3:10 to Yuma" in 2007. The "Scream" trilogy and "3:10 to Yuma" are not only critically acclaimed but also award winning.
She was married to
for 15 years. In an interview she confessed her liking to the concept of actors driving the plot rather than plot-driving actors. She can, however, be referred as a woman driving the plot. Rightly said, Cathy Konrad is a woman of substance.
