Ben Cashdan is a well-known Economist, writer, TV producer, former economic adviser to President Nelson Mandela in South Africa. He owns Broad Daylight Films Foundation and lives in the city of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. The popular filmmaker and television producer Ben Cashdan is famous worldwide. He works for the people who struggle against social injustice and the influence of market-based economic policies and globalization on the poor. He produced Sing Your Song, Harry Belafonte’s biographical documentary.
Cashdan also produced The World Debate on BBC World news which has 4 episodes. He planned and created the first season of South to North (which airs on Al Jazeera English) while on his way to producing Africa's first global talk show for a major international channel. After Mandela, if it was anyone to make an episode of BBC Question time in Dec 2013 on Africa, it was none other than Cashdan. The documentary, ‘’Two Trevors Go To Washington,” was produced and translated into many languages by Cashdan and shown worldwide at film festivals and broadcasters. The Hollywood producer pulled off many shows, including Cashdan’s “The Big Debate” TV talk show, aired at the last minute by the SABC, leading to the censorship accusations.
