Lee Child

James Dover Grant also popularly known by his pen name Lee Child, is British author writing thriller novels. He is best known for his Jack Reacher Click to look into! >> Read More... novel series. Lee was born on October 29, 1954, in Coventry, England. He is one of the four siblings, and his younger brother Andrew Grant is also a novelist. His father was a government servant and moved to Birmingham, England for better education of his sons. Lee completed his formative years of education in Birmingham after which he went on to study law at the University of Sheffield. He had no intention of joining the legal profession, and during his college years, he worked in the backstage of a theatre.

After graduating, he joined as a presentation director in Granada Television in Manchester, England. Lee worked on several shows including Brideshead Revisited, The Jewel in the Crown, Prime Suspect, and Cracker. Lee was involved in 40,000 hours of programming and writing thousands of commercials in his eighteen-year career at Granada Television. But he was fired at the age of 40, in the year 1995 as a result of corporate restructuring. Lee then decided to start writing novels and bought six dollars worth paper and pencil and penned down his first novel, Killing Floor, the first book in the crime thriller, Jack Reacher series in 1997.

He then moved to the United States in 1998. Killing Floor, became an immense hit and he launched in writing Jack Reacher series whose sales has improved with the release of every new installment. In the year 2007, he collaborated with 14 writers and created The Chopin Manuscript which was broadcasted weekly on Audible.com. Lee has several homes in England, France, the United States and like to travel around.
