Colin Stetson

Colin Stetson, conceived March 3, 1975 is an American-brought into the world Canadian saxophonist, multireedist, and author. He is best known as a customary partner of the outside the box shake acts Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Bell Orchestre, and Ex Eye. Notwithstanding saxophone, he plays clarinet, bass clarinet, French horn, woodwind, and cornet.

Stetson has discharged different performance discharges, including his introduction and resulting collections New History Warfare Vol. 1, 2, and 3, a community oriented studio collection with spouse and musician Sarah Neufeld entitled Never Were the Way She Was (2015), SORROW: A Reimagining of Henryk Górecki's third Symphony (2016), and All This I Do for Glory (2017).

His all-encompassing saxophone procedures spread propelled round breathing, multiphonics, altissimo, microtones, (reed) vocalizations, percussive valve-work, clicking keys, and snarling. The general impact drove The New Yorker film faultfinder Anthony Lane to depict Stetson's score to the film Hereditary as having been apparently 'scored for violins, percussion, a humpback whale, and bats.' His first independent collection, New History Warfare, Vol. 1, was discharged in 2008.

His second and third collections, New History Warfare Vol. 2: Judges and New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light, were discharged by Constellation Records in mid 2011. On June 16, the collection was named as a longlisted chosen (one of 40) for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. On July 6, the collection was named as a shortlisted (one of 10) candidate for the 2011 honor. Stetson was picked by Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel to perform at the All Tomorrow's Parties celebration that he curated in December 2011 in Minehead, England.

The last collection of the set of three, New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light, was discharged by Constellation Records in April 2013, and was a longlist chosen one for the 2013 Polaris Music Prize. April 2015 saw the arrival of Never Were the Way She Was, the main account of Stetson's couple venture with long-lasting teammate Sarah Neufeld. Stetson's collection All This I Do for Glory was discharged on April 28, 2017.
