Yara Shahidi

Yara Sayeh Shahidi, popularly known as Yara Shahidi, is an actress, model, and activist from the United States. She hailed from Minnesota, USA, and was born on February 10, 2000. She was born to Keri Salter Shahidi and Afshin Shahidi, who was a photographer. When Yara was four years old, her family relocated to California for Afshin's job. She is the older sister of Sayeed Shahidi, a child actor, and model, and they also have a younger brother. Shahidi received her diploma from Dwight Global Online School in 2017. Shahidi enrolled at Harvard University in 2018, taking Sociology and African American Studies as her primary course. She began her career at six, appearing in ads for McDonald's, GapKids, Disney, Ralph Lauren, Target, Guess Kids, and other corporations. Fashion website Net-a-Porter named her one of the best-dressed ladies in 2018. She was also chosen as one of fifteen ladies to grace the cover of British Vogue's September 2019 issue. Shahidi and her mother founded their production firm, "7th Sun," in 2020 and inked an agreement to develop shows with ABC Studios. Besides acting, Shahidi also runs a few organizations that provide online workshops for poor people and aims to end poverty through education. Her activities were noticed and appreciated well by Michelle Obama, who wrote her a letter of recommendation to Harvard University, Cambridge. In February 2017, she was honored with the "Generation Next Award" at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood annual event.
