Tatiana Maslany is a popular Canadian actress who starred in many television series. She was born as Tatiana Gabrielle Maslany on September 22, 1985 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. When she was young, she went to a French school and her mother taught her on speaking German language before she learned English. She also know how to speak few Spanish words. She started to dance at the age of 4 and later, she shifted in doing community theatre and some musicals. Tatiana studied at Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School where she graduated productions and improvisational theatre in year 2003. While in high school, the actress found jobs with pay and let her travel to around Canada with her parent’s permission. She will work for some months and come back to Regina to attend school. When she finished high school, she spent her time in doing performances in theatre and travel around before she finally settle in Toronto when she was 20 years old.
She acted as one of the stars in the Canadian children’s series, 2030 CE and bagged the role of the 12-years old open-minded, Rome Greyson. She played as the Ghost in the 2004 Canadian sequel of Ginger Snaps, the Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed. She did comedic improvisational theatre for the whole ten years and joined the Canadian Improv Games. She is also a part of the General Fools Improvisational Theatre. In year 2007, Tatiana appeared in the American supernatural horror film, The Messengers as Lindsay Rollins. She is also cast in the family drama series, Heartland where she bagged the role of Kit Bailey, a barrel racer. She has done a recurring role in the television program, Instant Star as Zepellin and played as one of the lead in the television film, An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving which is based on Louisa May Alcott’s short story. Later, she appeared in the Canadian series, Flashpoint and essayed the role of a kidnap victim. In the second season of the drama series, Being Africa, she played the role of Sarah Wexlar, a drug addict. She played a very positive role as Mary, the mother of Jesus in the British series, The Nativity opposite with Andrew Buchan.Â
Tatiana did the role of Ruby Fry in the 2010 drama film, Grown Up Movie Star together with Shawn Doyle and Johnny Harris. She also appeared in an episode of the science fiction drama series, The Listener as Hannah Simmons. She was also part of the direct-to-video sci-fi action film, Hardwired. In 2011, she was one of the stars in the film adaptation of John Sanford’s Certain Prey from which she played the role of Clara Rinker, a contract killer. In 2012, she played the lead role as Claire in the comedy film, Picture Day. In this film, Tatiana received the Breakthrough Performer award at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2013, Outstanding Performance at the ACTRA Awards and the Borsos Award for Best Performance in a Borsos Competition Film at the Whistler International Film Festival.
She was also starred in the science fiction series, Orphan Black where she played as Sarah Manning and also with many clone characters. She won the Best Actress in a Drama Series at the Critics’ Choice Television Award, Breakthrough Performance at Young Hollywood Awards and Best Actress in a Drama Series at the EWwy Award in 2013. Whereas she also received the Outstanding Female Actor in a Breakthrough Role at the Gracie Award in 2014 and more.
On June 2013, Tatiana signed with the talent and literary agency from California, the Resolution which became her US representation. While in Canada, she continues to work under Magnolia Entertainment presented by the Characters Talent Agency. She made a guest starring role in the comedy series, Parks and Recreation as Dr. Nadia Stasky. Later, she was starred in the independent film, Cas and Dylan where she donned the role of Dylan opposite with Richard Dreyfuss. She received Phillip Borsos Award for Best Performance at the Whistler Film Festival in year 2013. Recently, she was cast in the upcoming American-British film, The Woman in Gold and will be playing the younger version of Maria Altmann. Tatiana was seen dating the Welsh writer and actor, Tom Cullen. They met while doing the television series, World Without End where she played as Sister Mair and the two were seen attending different events together since 2011.
