Sarah Michelle Gellar is a versatile personality. She is an American actress, entrepreneur and a producer. She was born in New City in 1977. Her parents are Rosellen and Arthur Gellar working in the fields of teaching and garments, respectively. Her family is Jewish. When she was only seven, her parents were separated. Her mother raised her. She involved in an acting career at a very early age. She secured the third position at the New York State Regional competition. She was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She did her education from Grammar and Preparatory School. However, she wasn't able to attend her classes daily because she was a child artist. Then she further joined the art school, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, but she had to drop out because of her acting commitments.
Later she graduated from the Professional Children's School, in 1994. In the context of her education, she stepped in acting with her debut in a TV movie ‘An Invasion of Privacy’ in 1983 at the age of four. She did her first lead role in the 1992 ‘Miniseries Swans Crossing.’ She was also nominated for it. She appeared in a controversial Television commercial for Burger King, in which she criticized McDonald‘s as a character. Under a lawsuit, she was banned from eating at McDonald’s food chain. In an interview, she had also shown her regret towards this ban.
She also appeared in some of the TV series for guest appearance such as ‘Spenser: For Hire’ and ‘Crossbow.’ She garnered acknowledgment and praise when she was twice nominated, for Best Young Actress in a New Television Series and for Best Young Actress in an Off-Primetime Series. She stepped in the soap opera from ‘All My Children’ in 1993, and she gained a homely status in this medium of acting. At the age of eighteen (1995), she won a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of a Young Actress in Drama Series.
Then she bagged the lead role in ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’ This series ran for seven seasons, and she was lauded as she won five Teen Choice Awards, the Saturn Award and an impressive Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Drama. Her first big movie appearance came in “I Know What You Did Last Summer’ in 1997. Gellar also earned a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favourite Supporting Actress – Horror, along with the nomination for Best Breakthrough performance in MTV Movie Awards. She was also the host for ‘Saturday Night Live’ for the first time. She has appeared in many other TV series and movies such as The Grudge, Ringer, The Simpsons, American Dads, Star Wars Rebels, Those who can't and Cruel Intentions and many more.
She has also won many awards like SFX award, E! Golden Remotes Awards and recently she bagged People’s Choice Award for ‘The Crazy Ones.’ She was celebrated as the Woman of the year, earning the award hosted by Glamour Magazine (2002). Gellar has also appeared on the cover of magazines such as in Seventeen (1997), Nylon and Rolling Stone. She got a name in annual Maxim “Hot 100” several times. SHe was ranked in Top 100 TV Icons in 2007 by Entertainment Weekly and earned the 3rd spot on the list of its Top 12 Entertainers of the Year (1998), and she was at Nos. 17 and 24 in 50 Best Dressed Women in the world by Glamour Magazine, respectively in the years 2004 and 2005.
She also serves for society through platforms such as Breast Cancer research, Project Angel Food, and CARE. She got married to Freddie Prinze. Jr. in Mexico in 2002. They met during the film ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ in 1997. In 2007, she changed her name to Sarah Michelle Prinze. Now, she is the mother of two children, one daughter and a son. She is a remarkable actress; she has earned fame and name by her talent in the film industry.
