Madchen Amick

Mädchen Elaina Amick, was born on December 12, 1970, in Sparks, Nevada, a Reno suburb, an actress from the United States. Judy, a medical office manager, and Bill Amick, a musician, are her parents. Amick's parents are of German ancestry. She also has Norwegian, Swedish, English, and Irish ancestors. Amick was encouraged by her parents as a child to pursue her artistic impulses. She studied the piano, bass, violin, and guitar, as well as tap, ballet, jazz, and modern dance. She went to Los Angeles in 1987, at the age of 16, to pursue a career as an actress. Amick began her career in Los Angeles as a guest star on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1989) and Baywatch (1990). Amick received her big break in Twin Peaks (1990–1991) when director David Lynch hired her as waitress Shelly Johnson. Amick later collaborated with Lynch twice again, repeating her role as Shelly in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) and in seven episodes of the 2017 Twin Peaks revival series.

In 1990, Amick was cast as Mandy in Don't Tell Her It's Me, and in 1991 as Amy in Tobe Hooper's horror film "I'm Dangerous Tonight." Amick was cast in The Borrower in 1991. Amick played Tanya Robertson in Stephen King's horror film Sleepwalkers in 1992. The following year, she appeared in the thriller Love, Cheat, & Steal (1993). After a decade of jobs that failed to garner the attention that Twin Peaks did, Amick steadily established himself as a familiar figure on television, with recurrent parts on Gilmore Girls, ER, Jake in Progress, and Joey. Amick appeared as a mysterious and deadly assassin in several episodes of NBC's serial drama Kidnapped.Amick appeared as Nate Archibald's "cougar" love interest in season 2 of Gossip Girl. They have two children, a son named Sylvester Time Amick-Alexis (born on July 5, 1992) and Mina Tobias (born on September 2, 1993). Tobias, a musician, released her song "Freedom" in 2018 and created a music video based on Twin Peaks.
