Kameran ‘Kamie’ Crawford was born on October 25, 1992, in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. She is the daughter of Victor Crawford and Carla Crawford and has four sisters namely, Victoria, Karynton, Kenadi, and Kendal. Her sisters Kenadi and Kendal are twins, while her ancestors can be traced to Cuban, Jamaican, German, English, Indian, and African American origins.

The actress-cum-model did her schooling at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland, U.S. At school, Crawford headed the cheerleading team, and later, she joined a medical program at Georgetown University.

She pursued acting at the New York Film Academy in 2010 while at the same time attending a local college. In 2015, she completed her higher studies at Fordham University, where she pursued a course in communications and media. That paved the way for her to work in television and become an anchoress.

Crawford won Miss Maryland Teen USA in 2009, for which she trained for five months. In her own words, Kamie decided to compete at the pageant on being encouraged by a friend who had already participated in the pageant earlier. She also won the title Miss Photogenic at the event. Crawford had had the privilege to be trained under Lauren Merola, who was Miss Pennsylvania USA 2008.

Since Crawford secured the state-level title, she was to represent Maryland at the national event. She competed at Miss Teen USA 2010 and was declared the winner on July 24. The event took place at the Atlantis Paradise Island Resort in the Bahamas.

Along with the title, Kamie bagged a $100,000 scholarship besides being handed free trips, clothes, and an apartment which she shared for about a year with other pageant winners like Ximena Navarrete and Rima Fakih. While she was still at college, Kamie began modeling with JAG Models in 2013.

Apart from hosting Catfish, Crawford has appeared on other television series too. She has made appearances on Celebrity Page, Rip The Runway ’11, Hell’s Kitchen, Tamron Hall, WGN Morning News, Entertainment Tonight, and Sweet Life: Los Angeles.

The television host also works with brands like Swarovski, Dove, Rent The Runway, Lancome, et al. Kameran, as she is also known, likes to work on computers and technology and design websites. She is also fond of makeup art and shopping.
