Brit Marling is an American Screenwriter, Producer and an Actor. She was born in Illinois, USA. Her parents are John Marling and Heidi Marling who were Property Developers. She grew up in Orlando and Winnetka, Illinois. She is a pass out of Dr. Philips High School and enrolled in an arts program. From her school days, Britt was interested in acting, but her parents compelled her to focus on her studies. She enrolled herself in the Georgetown University in the year 2005.
Marling met Zal Batmanglij and Mike Cahill at her university, Georgetown. Later, she quit her job and moved to the country Cuba along with Mike Cahill to shoot ‘Boxers and Ballerinas’, a short documentary movie. She played the main lead in the documentary and even co-wrote and co-produced along with Mike Cahill. The documentary got her much-needed recognition in the year 2004. In the year 2005, Mike Cahill, Zal Batmanglij and Marling moved to Los Angeles. Marling auditioned for a lot of movies and got roles in the horror films.
She turned them down as she was least interested in them. Britt joined a group of Freegans in the year of 2009 along with good friend Zal Batmanglij. They lived in tents and collected food from dumps to get a true picture of how the youngsters were making a meaningful life. In the year of 2011, Britt worked in the movie ‘
’ which was directed by her friend Mike Cahill and the film ‘Sound of My Voice’ which was directed by Zal Batmanglij. Marling worked as a co-writer and a co- producer in both of these films.

’ in the year 2012. She played the role of the main lead in the movie ‘The East’ which was directed by Zal Batmanglij. She co-wrote this film ‘The East’ along with Batmanglij. She was paired with actor
. Batmanglij collaborated with Marling for the series ‘The OA’ that is scheduled to be released in the year 2016 on Netflix. The series will be written and produced by Marling and Batmanglij. Britt Marling has one sister, Morgan who is also a Film Producer.
