John Slattery

John Slattery’s full name is John M. Slattery, Jr. He is an American director and an actor. He is known for his portrayal of the character Roger Sterling in a drama series named Mad Men produced AMC. His work in the series got him nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards and a couple of Critics’ Choice Television Awards.

Mad Men was such a huge success and even received two SAG Awards. Slattery directed his first movie in the year 2014 named God’s Pocket. He was also a co-writer of the movie. The movie was even premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. Slattery was born on 13th August 1962 in Boston, Massachusetts. His father, John Jack Slattery was a leather merchant and his mother, Joan Slattery was a CPA. Slattery is an Irish and has five siblings. He completed his high school education from St. Sebastian’s School in Massachusetts.

After that, he went to The Catholic University of America to pursue his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. As a child, Slattery wanted to become a baseball player. Slattery debuted into the film industry in the year 1995 with the movie A Woman of Independent Means. He played the role of Dwight in the movie. The movie went unrecognized, and so did Slattery.

His successful movie came in the year 1996 named City Hall in which he played the role of Detective George. Apart from his acting career, Slattery is also known for his roles as a union organizer. He portrayed the role of a political adviser in K Street, an HBO series. He is also known for the role of Senator Walter Mondale in the show named From the Earth to the Moon. He played the role of a politician named Bill Kelley on the show, Sex and the City.

In 2007, he appeared on the show Desperate Housewives. One of Slattery’s most successful movies was Mona Lisa Smile in which he played the role of Katherine Watson’s boyfriend. His most effective role was in the movie Flags of Our Fathers. He was a government promoter in the movie. In 2015, Slattery starred in the movie named Spotlight.

The movie was nominated for many Golden Globe Awards and even won an Academy Award. Apart from the movies, Slattery did a lot of television shows. He started his television career with the serial named Dirty Dozen: The Series in the year 1988. After that, he appeared in more successful drama series namely Homefront, From the Earth to the Moon, Will & Grace, Law and Order and many more. Currently, Slattery is working in a television series named Veep, where he is playing the role of Charlie Baird. Slattery received the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture Award and the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series at the Screen Actor Guild Award for Spotlight and Mad Men respectively.
