Dane did his schooling from Sequoia High School, Redwood City of California. In 1990, he took admission at the San Mateo High School, San Mateo city, California. He graduated from high school in 1991. He was an exceptional athlete and a Polo player. He did his first stage performance in a school play by Arthur Miller titled All My Sons.
Eric started his career in acting from 1993 onwards. His first TV appearance was on ‘Saved by the Bell’. The show was broadcasted on the NBC channel from 1989 to 1993. He did a supporting role, which was unnoticed.
He finally played a lead in a show by Paul Attanasio, named Gideon’ Crossing, in 2000. This show was a medical drama series in which Eric played the role of Dr. Wyatt Cooper. The show was well-received and it was with this show that Eric finally came into the limelight.
His most memorable performance is in the show Grey’s Anatomy (2006-12), in which he plays the character of Dr. Mark Sloan. The show was by ABC. It was about the lives of a few surgical interns.
The show won the Best Cast Award in the Satellite Awards. It also won an award at the Screen Guilds Awards in the category, Best Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Dane debut in movies was in 1999 with the film, The Basket. In this film, he played the character of Tom Enemy.
His best known film is X-Men: The Last Stand Click to look into! >> Read More... . The movie released in 2006. It was a superhero adventure film by Brett Ratner. Eric played the role of James Madrox/ Multiple Man, the thief which was hired by the gang named Brotherhood. Dane was appreciated for his performance, even though he just had two scenes in the final cut of the film.
In June 2011, the actor went into rehab to sort help for his dependency on prescription drugs.
