Jean Rochefort is a popular and veteran French actor, director and screenwriter. With a career that spanned over fifty years, he truly pulled it off as an incredible actor. Jean was born in Paris. He was trained at Paris Conservatoire. He halted his studies due to military services. In 1953, he worked as a theatre actor with Grenier-Hussenot for seven long years. Rochefort had the prowess to play both comedy and drama. Jean had his first major appearance in “Hearth Fires” (1972). Four years later, he was the lead in “An Elephant Can Be Extremely Deceptive” (a midlife crisis comedy).
He has starred in many other flicks like “Le Grand Blond avec une chaussure noire” (1972), “Retour du grand blond” (1974), “Le Crabe-tambour” (1977) to name some.
Rochefort was seen in the mini-series “Le Comte de Monte Cristo” (in 1998). In 1976 and 1978, he bagged the Cesar Award for “Best Supporting Actor” (for the film “Que la fete Commence”) and “Best Actor” (for the film “Le Crabe-Tambour”) respectively. Jean was to portray the character “Don Quixote” in the movie “The Man who killed Don Quixote” but unfortunately, the production was revoked. In 1999, Jean Rochefort received a special life’s achievement Cesar Award.
