Born on 30th October 1953, Charles Martin Smith is an American director and actor. After working in TV series for a long time, Smith got his big break in the movie American Graffiti in 1973. In this movie, he played the role of Terry Fields, a role he came back to in the sequel to the movie, More American Graffiti in 1979. In 1974, he was cast in the movie The Spikes Gang along with Ron Howard with whom he had worked before.
Then in 1978, he got the lead role in the movie Cotton Candy, that was directed again by Ron Howard. He then was cast in the movie Never Cry Wolf for which he spent three years shooting. He also wrote a lot of the narration for this movie. During most of the shoot, he was the only actor present.
In 1986, he directed his first movie Trick or Treat, which was a horror movie. He then directed the movie Fifty/Fifty which showed the story of a nation that had to submit to a cruel ruler. Then he took up the direction of the famous TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. He then also directed the hit film Air Bud that was loved by old and young alike. The movie was such a huge success that it later went on to have many sequels. He directed another famous movie called Dolphin Tale which was appreciated by the masses and critics.
After the success of this movie, he came back to write the screenplay and direct the sequel Dolphin Tale 2 which like it prequel was loved by everyone. This movie had the same cast and crew as the first one and was released on September 12, 2014.
