His family is Russian Jewish. His family was suffering from religious oppression and got deported to the United States by the refugee team of United States in 1989 September. He was only six months old when they shifted to the United States. He was the child of figure skating duo, Viktor Yelchin, and Irina Korina. In the United States, his father became a figure skating coach while his mother a figure skating choreographer.
His father was the first trainer of Sasha Cohen, the famous American figure skater. Anton was in a band called Hammerheads. He went to Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies located in Tarzana, California. In the University of Southern California, he enrolled to study film in the year 2007. He likes to play guitar while being a fan of blues acoustic music. Yelchin started working in the film industry at a young age. His debut was with the movie; A Man Is Mostly Water in 2000. He played the role of Augie in the movie. His initial works included small roles in ER Tv series, The Wonderful World of Disney, etc.
And movies like Delivering Milo (as Milo in 2001), Along Came A Spider (as Dimitri Starodubov in 2001), 15 Minutes, etc. he was in the TV mini-series of Taken portraying the role of Jacob Clarke. He also received Best Actor Award for the role he played in Like Crazy at the Hamptons International Film Festival and Hollywood Film Awards. He also won at Young Artists Awards for Best Leading Young Actor for Heart in Atlantis. He also has 14 different nominations. Anton died in a freak accident outside his residence in Studio City located in California. He got stuck between his car and a brick pillar on 19 June 2016. He was only 27 years old. To honor his death, Star Trek franchise dedicated their movie to him and decided they will not revive the character of Chekov in the coming movies.
