Austin Lee Russell commonly known as Chumlee is an English actor and a businessman. Born on 8th September 1982 as Austin Lee Russell in the United States he is known for being the cast member of the show pawn stars aired on the history channel. He played the character chumlee, and that is how he became famous with that name. He along with the three acted in the show which portrayed him as a comic foil but usually appraises the items such as pinball machines, video games, and sneakers.

Austin Lee Russell was nicknamed Chumlee because of his large face and big chin when he was just twelve years old. One day one of his friend’s fathers told him that he looked like the walrus chumlee of the television show Tennessee tuxedo and thus he became famous by his nickname. Corey Harrison and Austin became friends at a young age, and their friendship continued as they grew old. They often used to play and spend their time together in the pawn shop as children. Austin started his career by working at the shop when he was 21 years old. He had worked there for five years before shooting of the reality show pawn stars in July 2009. His job at the pawn shop included to be at the counter and see works like testing items, loading them and issuing tickets for customers who have purchased various items.

In the series, he is depicted as a village idiot who made the butt of other’s jokes because of his incompetence and lack of intelligence. Chumlee explains this by saying that he is always underestimated in the show and also tells that he is knowledgeable and intelligent by pointing to his pinball machine. Chumlee was one of the favorite characters of the show. The show was a success, and as a result, he formed his own company which sold t-shirts of his design and also looked after his appearance. In 2016 Austin was arrested on a raid in his house because of the allegations made on him of sexual assault. Various drugs and weapons had been found in the raid. Though he was released the next day, on 23rd March, he was again arrested after being declared guilty and was sent for three years’ probation and counseling.
