She has a degree in Sociology and Communications from the University of California. Sun had exceptional surfing skills and participated in several pro-am Surf events, which led to her getting sponsorships from big brands like Roxy, Reef Billabong, Vans, etc. The recognition she got from this acted like a slingshot that launched her into the entertainment business. She has worked in movies like Goliath (2016), Hit the Floor ( 2014- 2016), A Perfect Getaway ( 2009), Shackled (2005), Street Kings (2008), and Glowsticks and Drumsticks (2004). In 2014, Sun released Platic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a feature-length documentary about plastic pollution in the oceans and how it affects the environment, which she wrote, directed, and produced herself.
