Seth Gordon

Seth Gordon is a renowned American Film Director, Producer, Screen-Writer and Film Editor. He was born in Evanston, Illinois. He went to Yale’s University where he studied architecture till 1997. He left the university to teach high school, in the small village of Shimanyiro, Kenya. He taught there for six months. When he was in Shimanyiro, he helped there to develop the model of a village adjoining the Ugandan border. He took his video camera with him. He decided to film the process of construction. Later his stay in Kenya became troublesome. Gordon got some money to improve the school, but it caused a rift of need and greed in his personal life. He filmed the messy stage of his life too and placed it in the documentary. He learned how to edit the footage through ‘Avid Editing Machine’ by himself.

Whatever he shot in Shimanyiro later became the documentary named ‘Building Shimanyiro.’ He later worked for Barbara Kopple’s and Cecilia Peck’s documentary, ‘Shut Up and Sing’ which centers Dixie Chicks. He also worked on ‘New York Doll’ which revolves around a member of the 1970s band ‘New York Dolls.’ After his earlier works, he decided to come out of his cocoon and take some risk. He was a video game fan in his childhood, and as he says he was so feeble that his parent never took him to the beach. So he returned to video games for his directional début ‘King of Kong.’ New Line Cinema decided to turn, ‘The King of Kong’ into a fiction film with Gordon as the director of the movie. His career attained new heights in 2008, when Gordon directed ‘Four Christmas’ which he described as an “Unprecedented, Staggering, and Irrational Leap.”
