Lennart Ruff

Lennart Ruff is a German film and advertising director who was born on born March 10, 1986, in Mannheim. He spent his youth in Rome and Hamburg where he worked for commercial production, he also did this in Los Angeles.

His inclination to filmmaking began when Ruff got to study motion picture design at the HFF Munich. Later on, he even obtained a degree in advertising in 2011 and then competed in film festivals with short films. Also, he had a unique interest in making commercials.

He directed a short friction German film ‘Nocebo’ which detailed the view of young man with paranoid schizophrenia. For this film, in 2014, he fetched the Student Oscar for the best foreign film (Student Academy Award in Gold in the Foreign Category) of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in California, Los Angeles and was nominated Newcomer Award for the Studio Hamburg.

It was the graduation film of the director who was then doing his graduation at the Academy for Television and Film Munich. Director Lennart Ruff formed a team of students for the TV and Film Institute and his two colleagues Severing Höhne and Tobias M. Huber were the producers of this film and Jan Marcello Kahlws credited as being the cinematographer.

He made four more short films titled 'Life is easy', 'No special occurrences,’ ‘cycle,’and 'Borderline.’ In action, he is known for making TV commercials namely 'Jope' and Eurosport- "We are the winter’’.

As he was at the helm of the film, he chose writer Max Hurwitz to pen the film screenplay, the story is based on Arash Amel's story. Fred Berger is set to executive producer of the film, which will be financed by Leon Clarence and Motion Picture Capital.
