George Ogilvie is a legendary Australian actor, director, writer and producer. Born on 5th March 1931 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia. George Ogilvie started acting at the Canberra Repertory Theatre, and eventually moved to the United Kingdom where he trained, taught and acted. In 1965, he returned back to Australia to start working as the associate director with the Melbourne Theatre Company, where he worked for six years. George then worked as an associate artistic director for the South Australian Theatre Company, followed by more than 10 years as part of the subsidised theatre network.
He later went on to operate as a freelance director and started directing for the Australian Opera, the Australian Ballet and many other theatre groups. He has worked on some of the most popular Australian TV shows, his catalogue includes 1983’s The Dismissal, the Bodyline, and he even directed a few television movies, some of them being The Shiralee, Touch the Sun: Princess Kate, The Battlers, The Feds, Blue Heelers between 2002 and 2006.
He has an impressive catalogue of films to his credit like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), Short Changed (1985), the much-awarded The Place at the Coast (1987), and The Crossing (1990), where

was first seen on the screen. Ever since George has been working in the film industry, he has actively worked as a teacher, director and actor at the National Institute of Drama and Arts. In 2006, the highly prestigious Australian performing arts association Currency House went on to publish an autobiography of George.
